Important! New URL’s for Library Research Guides

August 6, 2008

Over the summer I’ve updated the SOM/SSL Research Guides using Libguides, proprietary software the the Yale Libraries subscribe to.  The new guides are designed to be more friendly for both the creator and the reader.  Unfortunately, the URL’s are a bit awkward, a list follows:

International Experience   Companies  Industries
More Research Guides   Accounting Finance
Operations  Organizational Behavior  Market Share
 Healthcare  Entrepreneurship
Venture Capital

Please contact me if you would like a resources guide prepared for your class, interest group, conference etc.

Happy searching,

New Databases: New Opportunities for Cross-curriculum Research:

June 27, 2008

SSL recently has added the following databases and/or upgrades to existing resources:

e-Marketer

SimplyMap (with Mediamark add in)

Standard & Poor’s Global NetAdvantage (an upgrade to the domestic version)

Thomson One Banker (an upgrade from Thomson Research)

Value Line Research Center

Value Line Historical

I had an opportunity recently to use these new tools to help a student researching online education, a topic that crosses many sectors and disciplines.  Examples of what we discovered in each of the new/improved resources follow:

e-Marketer retrieved the following article and chart

SimplyMap (with Media-mark add on): Tracked internet access at home for Hartford census tracts.

Value Line Historical has reports on the companies going back to 2000:
